Hello everyone. I just put my 1st smoker together, a BBQ Grilleware Vertical Propane Smoker. Love the site, lots of info. What's the best way to season my smoker? What do I smoke first to appease the BBQ gods? Any info for a first timer is greatly appreciated.

Welcome TQ

Spray the insides with PAM or cooking oil of some sort and get her up to about 250 to 300 degrees for at least an hour or two. Helps cook the paint stink out as well as add a nice greasy protective coating inside.

Make sure you calibrate your thermometer make checking it in boiling water (212 degrees) before you use it. That'll save you alot of aggravation!

Have you signed up for Jeff's free 5 day ecourse yet? How about the news letter? Then there's the nice Smoking meat PDF download. That'll keep you busy for awhile!

Welcome one from the Land of Enchantment, this is the SMF. You've already gotten some sound advise on seasoning your smoker, once that is done you'll be on your way to smokin' up a storm. I hope you'll have a good supply of NM chile now that the harvest is just about over. Good luck with your new smokin' machine. When you first login it, go towards the bottom of the page and you''ll see TOP DOWNLOADS. I'm sure they are all in PDF format.
