Any tips for smoking a leg of pork?

  1. Hi,
    Just wondering if there are any tips, do's or dont's when smoking a leg of pork?

    I have smoked a couple of pork butts which have turned out well, but I have a leg of pork which I would like to smoke, I was worried if it may go too dry.

    Any suggestions, or has anyone has smoked a leg and did it turn out ok?

    We smoked a whole leg last year at the fattie contest. Started it the day before. Took 26 hours I believe. We hung it from the top of the smoker. Way to much fat in it to dry out.
