Bring your "A" game when you go to strike an arc on a ammo can. it is thin. You could use the conduit nutts ThoughWant to do your ammo box mod. I love my amazn smoker.
Forgot we're talking with a farmer....weld on the ball valves and and the other pipe nipples along w/ your smoke generator mod. If i were you i'd make that adjustable basket so you can move the charcoal basket up to grill on. I'll give you measurements on where to drill the holes if you're going that route.I am very good with a mig.

then it should not be a problem. When i go to strick an arc on something real thin. I have to tell my self when i lower the helmet. Bring your A game. I wish i could see now like i thougth i could weld back then.I am very good with a mig.

I did mine with flux core. on thin you can't see anything. puddle is covered over with slag to fast..Mig with .023 is still a bring your A game to me.
I would have a problem with it. I welded the bottom elbow with 035 fc. i had a hole almost as big as my head as soon as i struck an arc. I was able to fill it.I use 035 flux core. Might have a problem.
I would burn out any drum. It will also burn the paint off of the outside.I know. I had just got a plan together. Does it still need a burn out?
