Ok, I already have a lem 5lb vertical stuffer. My immediate future sees me buying a 2nd vertical stuffer for my mammy-in-law. I am considering moving up to a 15lb unit and just giving her my lem. Hard to bite off a new 15lb lem right now though. Here is a link for a fleebay auction I'm curious about.

I've never heard of mtn gearsmith, nor do i know a thing about them. However, the seller has sold MANY of the units fairly cheap. I'm afraid of the quality and lack thereof. Is it something right off the boat from somewhere else and not worth a .44c stamp much less whatever the winning bid is, or is it a pretty good piece? If anybody has any idea, I'd sure appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

Louie, morning....   On certain vertical stuffers, that look like that one, there have been problems with the gearing that drives the piston assembly.....  gears strip out and you are left hanging.....   This one may be different, don't know...

I have heard, LEM and Sausage Maker stand behind their products....   If this stuffer fails, you are going to end up buy a replacement with no recourse on the failed unit.....  Sausage Maker, a sponsor on this forum, also has stuffers and lots of stuff for all your needs.....  Then Grizzly has stuffers also.....  All are good.... some are better, depending on your application and amount of use.....   Dave

I would avoid the eBay stuffer like the plague, in the end you're not saving money by buying a piece of junk, go with a 15 lber in the same style as the 5 lber. you have. LEM, Northern Tool, Grizzly, Gander Mountain and Sausage Maker all sell them. I just bought one from Gander Mountain.

diyelker, unfortunately i only have gravity fed spring water, my momm-in-law lives in the philippines and doesn't have indoor running water.

I did a lot of research on these also and ended up buying a 6lb stuffer from Midwestern research (now Waltons) and it is an absolute work horse. All stainless steel, gears, tubes and other parts. Excellent customer service and great company all around. I liked the sainless steel stuffing tubes and it comes with 4 along with a sainless steel spindle that adheres the cone shaped tubes to the canister. Check out my posts and you'll see plenty of pics of mine.....

I haven't had the best of luck with Walton's....I emailed a few questions pertaining to a particular product three times and never received an acknowledgement, let alone answers....if they haven't got time for me, I haven't got time for them. Anyway...to bad for them, I bought elsewhere!

That's my philosophy as well. There are so many other businesses that would LOVE to take my cash - especially in this economy - that customer service should be at the top of the list for every company...
