Newbie eager to learn the tricks of the trade

I love cooking with my cast iron skillets. Earlier last year I bought a cast iron dutch oven but I have never used it.  I want to know if I can use it over an electric stove.  It has legs so that is why I am questioning if I can use it on my stove.

I'm not sure if you can use it on a stove. My son's Boy Scout Troop has a bunch like that and we use them with charcoal.
