I managed to get some pecans despite my hands. I could not find a tree for paper shell so used a native tree I use for back up. They are running very late this year but after none last year it was welcome. Ended up turning in 43 lbs to get cracked. I use them mostly to make my Habanero Garlic Honey Pecans to give to friends and others. I also make some seasoned low carb ones to eat for me. This will do 5 batches of my Habanero. I going to try to get some more.

Here is my recipe: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/habanero-garlic-honey-pecans.302885/

Nice haul, Brian. Those are going to be good. I can get all the pecans I want, but I hate cracking them and there's no one around who does it...

Save those shells. I heard there great for smoking 😉!
Most the shells are at the place that cracked and shelled them.

I usually get them done in Oklahoma because they cheap but with my hands I had them done here as they do 90% clean. Surprised they dont have someone around you.

There are tons of places that sell local shelled pecans, but almost none that advertise shelling customer's pecans for them. With all the pecan trees here, there's surely somewhere that will shell them. After an interweb search, I've located one that's quite a ways away, but I'm going to call and see what they charge. How much does your place charge?

.040 for cracked and .085 for cracked and shelled. Worth the extra for shelled to me.
