Stuffed sandwich

Something I like to do every once in awhile . Fun cook and makes a great meal .
Make up some dough and spread it out on a sheet pan .

Layers start with Motz cheese .

Then some salami ,,

Next , some tomato basil cheese , sandwich pepperoni and some peppers .

Another layer of motz , and more salami .

Pepperoni ,

Last layer of cheese . You want cheese top and bottom to keep the dough from getting soggy .

Fold the dough over and seal up .

Cut some vents ,,,

Into a 350 oven until the dough starts to set .
Remove and hit it with some egg wash .

Sprinkle with garlic salt and poppy seeds .

Back in the oven 'til dough is cooked .

Sliced up ,

Store bought onion rings , makes a great meal .

This needs to rest a couple hours before serving ,
so the cheese has time to set .
Makes a great sandwich .
 
That looks awesome chop! I could go for a few slices.

Eaten warm out of the oven, we call that a Stromboli where I’m from. It could be anything from Italian, cheesesteak, vegetable or chicken wing...they’re the common ones.

What we call a calzone is a mixture of ricotta and mozzarella cheese baked in pizza dough and served with a side of marinara for dipping. Think a huge hot pocket but flatter. They are usually meat-less but a lot of places offer ham or salami.

Whatever you like to call it, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s in my belly!

Stromboli, calzone, <insert meat here>pockets call it what you want. The above statement is the best one.

That is what we call Calzone just add pasta sauce, the way you made it we would call that a Strombolis.

It actually has another name , don't remember what it is . All about the same .

I just happened across the tomato basil cheese . Went really good in this .
My kids loved doing this when they were younger , and even now .
 
Rich that looks good to me! Did you make your own Pizza dough for that?

Thanks bud . Yes I did make the dough . I usually mix it up on Sunday using a stand mixer . Then into the fridge to use thru the week . I like to let it ferment 3 or 4 days for pizza . I bought a food processor couple weeks ago and have been using it to make the dough . Does a great job .

I'll give that a LIKE !! Looks awesome ! I think I could eat that whole thing in one sitting. Just what I need, another cooking project. Now i gotta learn to make dough and pastrami.
Got the wheels turning now, the possibilities are endless.

It's supposed to get cold here this weekend, so this looks like a fun project.
I think I have most of the ingredients here already!
Be a good one to stay inside and do . Endless options on the filling . Just remember , needs to sit awhile before slicing . Thanks for the comments .
