I live in the DFW area. Looking to get into offset smokers. Been using a WSM for years. I mostly smoke baby back ribs and chicken. I've dabbled with briskets and pork butts. My one try on beef ribs was a failure. Chalking it up to bad ribs.

I am looking for a backyard size offset smoker not on a trailer. Maybe 20-24 inch by 36 to 40 inch main section. I don't want a cheap one. Been looking at Horizon, Old Country and a few others. Also looking at used or refurbished ones as well. Budget is a max of $2000.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Minnesota! Lots of guys running offset smokers on here and hopefully they will chime in shortly for you!

Welcome from North Carolina. Check out blue smoke smokers. They start around 1700

I checked out Horizon at BPS. Looks well built. Cook door was very heavy. I also saw Old Country Brazos DLX at Buccee’s and Academy. It also looks good. Maybe not as well built as the Horizon.

I checked out the two refurbished smokers by a guy my buddy has bought smokers from in the past. I am going to get one of them. It is constructed of heavy steel, 18" x 36" cooking chamber and has a rectangular fire box, 18w x16h x16l. It fits my needs and will save money over a new one. Will pick it up soon.
