Hiya

My name is Tom from Pa. Just joined this site cause i enjoy smoking (especially trout). Recently i turned a gas grill into a charcoal grill that i also want to use for smoking. My problem is i have purchased 2 thermometers to install on the unit (same brand from different sellers) I tested both in a pot of boiling water and could only get a 175 reading on both. Should they have read 212?

Thanks

Tom

Hey Tom, welcome to SMF.  Glad you are here and enjoying smoking.

That's just weird about the thermometers.  Yes, they both should read 212F, unless you are at an elevation of roughly 19,500 feet, where water boils at around 175F.  You're not at the base camp of Mt. Everest, are you?

Curious.

But welcome to SMF!

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a nice hot sunny day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
