New member from Muncy Hills Pa. first try at smoking created meat that tasted like an ash try!!  I have more wood than I will ever use for smoking, except no hickory!!  I hunt and cant wait to take a venison ham and smoke it, edible of course. I bird hunt and have access to chukars and pheasants, hoping for help with wild game. Have to any hobbies and now I can add smoking!

MT, welcome to SMF!  Glad you're here and ready to get rid of the ashtray taste.  Loading meat too early on a new fire will cause that to happen.  Just part of the learning process.  You'll be turning out perfection in no time flat.
