hmmm good deal, i'm thinking that Anaheim gig might work out for me, I work weekends though.

I might be a judge at the Bakersfield event in May. I have to take a judging class, so the organizers are going to let me know the date for that. I'm crossing my fingers.

Very cool - if you do that we really need to get you to the gathering in June once Aaron and I get it together

I'm sure everyone has seen but the next competition in SoCal is at the Santa Anita Race Track on March 10.  The BBQ teams will be on the infield of the track during race day.  Should be lots of fun for the whole family - looks like they really try and make the infield fun for the family.  There should be over 30 teams there with most participating in People's Choice.

Yes you can still wager on the horses and see all the action with lots of tv's all over the place in the infield.

My team - Meat, Inc. will be competing.  If anyone wants to check out how we prep, cook, and present our competition meat, feel free to come hang out with us!  We will be prepping Friday night and we put the big meats on around midnight.

Aaron - I would love to but we teach our 4H kids that day. If something changes I wll call you

I would love to.  I'm just waiting to hear back from the even organizers.  I have to attend a judging class.  The whole thing sounds like a lot of fun.

Just a few days from this competition - this Saturday!  It will be a pretty memorable location for a BBQ Competition - on the infield of the racetrack as the horses are running around in circles.  I wonder if the smell of BBQ meats will make the horses run faster?!?

If you're there, please stop by and say hello and get some meat!

I will be at the Bakersfield's Biggest Baddest BBQ Competition as a judge!!  I am taking the training course at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace a month before to get certified and I get to eat and judge delicious barbecue at the event.  It sounds like a lot of fun!

I hope to meet some of you there!

The BBQ Comp this last weekend at Santa Anita Race Track.  It was an awesome venue and lots of people showed up for People's Choice.  Meat, Inc. didn't do to well in the KCBS judging but we sold out of hundreds of pounds of meat, brisket chili, sausage, and candied SPAM by 2pm.

Here's a link to a great article with some killer pictures of the event.  Check it out!

Congrats Aaron on selling out so quick. I have tasted Meat Inc's food and you guys rock. Sorry to miss this one but we had a family emergency

OK Guys - next competition is weeks away!  Ultimate BBQ Showdown - East vs. West California State BBQ Championship!

Facebook event page -

Where - Wildomar, CA

When - April 7 10am - 6pm

Who - Right now - 42 teams.

Meat, Inc. will be competing in the KCBS Comp as well as supplying all the People's Choice you can handle.  As a special treat we are going to smoke a whole hog - OK - it's only 50lbs dressed - for People's Choice and for the spectacle.  Should be a great time.  Please come out and see us, get some great BBQ, and have some fun.

I know it's the day before Easter but should be plenty of fun for the whole family.

We already have a few guys who have volunteered to help but anyone who is interested can come hang out and get the inside scoop on competitive BBQ or just try some great food!

Feel free to contact me if you need some more info.

I just sent out a PM to everyone in the group and I wanted to add some more info here for anyone in So Cal not in the group

Here is the info from the newspaper - FYI - Wildomar is at the 215 / 15 junction basically in North Temecula / Murietta area and there is a carnival for the kids to enjoy. Should be a fun day. Send me a PM if you are going so we can meet.

The Wildomar Rotary Club will host an event called “The Ultimate BBQ Showdown, East vs. West”.

The April 7 event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be adjacent to the Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Elks Lodge No. 2591, 21330 Waite St., Wildomar.

A carnival will run in conjunction, starting the day before, April 6, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., April 7 and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. April 8.

At the barbecue, top pit masters from across the nation and world, as well as local chefs turned pit masters for the day, will face off for $12,000 in prize money.

The event will include vendors, live music, other food, a children’s play area and a wine and beer garden.

Tickets, which are on sale now, cost $5 for general admission.

I didn't get my PM till today, how did it go?

Who's going to the Queen Mary in May? I'm excited for that one, I'm hoping I can attend at least for a few hours.

This was a fun day. My wife and I arrived around noon and hung out with Aaron and his team for a couple of hours - Got to watch his team in action and these are some really friendly folks.  Got to sample chicken, pork, ribs, brisket (by far the best food we tasted) and it was a great time. Had to leave before the whole pig was done.

John (Soslow) and his wife came by and hung out for a while as well.  We had company coming so we did not get to stay around for the results and I am waiting for Aaron to send me some pics to post up for everyone.

In the meantime - we now have a judge among us - Lisa B completed the 5 hour class. Congrats Lisa.

Hey Lisa - we are still dealing with some stuff and are not going to make it up there. Later this summer I need to head to Oakland and might try to swing by and say hello

Another KCBS BBQ Competition this weekend at Pechanga Casino in Temecula.  Meat, Inc. will be there in full force competing as well as participating in People's Choice.

The event is this Saturday, June 23 from 11am - 5pm.

You should be able to spot us flying the Don't Tread on Me Flag - that is - if you don't hear us first.  We are a little loud.

We will be serving brisket, pulled pork, Atomic Buffalo Turds, Pig Candy, SPAM Fries, chicken, Sausage, and ribs.  Come on out and introduce yourself!  Should be fun.
