Who smoking for Labor Day BBQ

We're having a block party on Labor Day and I'm thinking about a pork butt and some cowboy beans.  1st ever block party since we've lived here (2nd year), but the neighbors say they have them yearly when time and weather allows.  Should be around 20 to 30 people and burgers and hot dogs are the...

Smoked Wings and a Couple of Breast

I get the same from my wife.  What is it with women and smoke?   And I know there are women on here who like to smoke and grill, but it seems the majority of women can only take so much.  Smoke makes meat taste so much better and it keeps them from having to cook so what's the problem?

    masterbuilt smoker

Buy a good digital thermometer with two probes.  One for the meat and one for ambient temps.  Don't trust the one that is built in.  It may be accurate, but better safe than sorry.

Kings ford competition vs reg kings ford

I use to use Kingsford before they cut the "groove" in the briquets.  I believe this was a cost savings to them more than a quick starting method as they promoted.  Before they did that you could close the vents on your weber and put the coals out to save for the next que, but not with the new...

    Is a two-dollar pistol equivalent to a four-dollar...

I sorta inherited the same slicer.  Only use it to slice beef or venison for jerky or occasionally cheese and summer sausage.  You got a steal for $4 if it runs at all.  I never had the blade sharpened or really had the need to for what I use it for.  Beef and venison cut best when partially...

    packaged corned beef

"ice box" , now that's something you don't hear nowadays.  In fact, I never really lived in the "ice box" age, (and I'm 60 yrs. old)  but it was what the refrigerator was called when I grew up.  It is my understanding that the ice box actually contained block ice to keep food cool.  Sorry to...
