Seen, just use the wifes hair dryer. Does the same thing, just not as much heat. The pellets are already burning, the fast air across them is what gets the cherry glowing.
Kirka62,
This tid bit of information tells me even if your new MES does give you problems, you should have an easy go at repairing it. The problems have mostly been due to faulty/ cheap wiring and lugs at the element and control board. I already have quality Nichol plated replacement lugs and #...
LOL The Brisket was 24 cents a pound. If memory serves me well..which it usually doesn't these days, the article said there was to much confusion in the market place with so many different cuts of meat available. The uninformed public was walking away and not buying the cut because they didn't...
You are quite welcome Suie,
Actually it was your post that prompted me to order the book I mentioned. Today on my way home for lunch, I stopped by our local market and had the butcher cut me a 7lb Sirloin Tip and apply some Buddy's Butt Rub to it. When I get home this afternoon, I will take it...
I also found this gem of a video to go along with my post above this one. It's sorta like an old PSA film we saw in school with annoying audio.
Watch the second video on the right. 1&2 are basically the same but 2 has better audio.
Over thirty years ago I purchased and lost the book (Cutting Up in the Kitchen, The Butchers Guide to Saving Money on Meat and Poultry by Merle Ellis). Mr. Ellis was a butcher by trade. The premise of his book was to teach the consumer how to identify and extract the different cuts of tender...
Chef Jimmy, if I may be so bold as to offer an explanation of the Sirloin Tip as I understand it.

LOL! Well the one in your picture looks like it's seen its last days. Here is a more unfortunate story. A friend of mine actually traded in a 1966 Shelby GT 350 Mustang "Hertz", for a new, deluxe model Pinto Wagon. His wife informed him that she was expecting their first child, so they...
The benefits of growing up in a small Nth Florida rural town are many. My first car wasn't exactly a car, it was 1963 Willys (Kaiser) Jeep. I was 15 years old.
I will never forget the day we bought it. It was on a Saturday morning, my dad woke me early and told me we were going to Langley...
Thanks for the input Bear.
Just got my Maverick ET 732 from Todd last week. Both probes verified 212* on the BW test. I'll be busier than a Huey Pilot monotoring all these probes. lol
From what I have learned about the MES controller, it is a Plug & Play unit. I would really love to have it...
Yes, I placed the placed the Taylor probe which reads 3* low, verified doing the boiling water test, about a 1/4 " from the sensor. The Taylor probe was stuck through a Tater that was at box temp also. The MES sensor probe reads 18* lower than the Taylor.
Be back shortly, my Spare Rib is making...
Wow! This thread started over four months ago and since then there have been 536 post discussing the Masterbuilt 30 & 40s.
I decided to purchase my MES 30 (2011 model) back in February after reading what this thread had discussed up to that point. I did so knowing the flaws the Gen 1& 2...
