    charcoal vs wood for heat

    ive mixed wood and charcoal ..it was hard to get the desired temp on my smoker.they adviced me to use all wood no charcoal.my problem is getting the right wood.i dont think home depot sells oak wood for fire wood.any one tried different kind of wood like pine or birchwood?

    what do you mean?you only help people you know persnally? anyway i just wanted to ask if birch wood or any kind of firewood theyre selling in home depot or other stores is good for cooking?

    i have a DBS with single flue ..this will be my 3rd time smokin pork ribs..1st time was not good because the meat tasted like smoke..i thought i want white smoke and i learned it was the opposite,i was using charcoal and soaked  hickory wood..2nd time,the ribs were great but this time i used...
