$350 is a fair price but I think it's overkill and not needed. Line the bottom of the firebox with firebrick and be done. You could make you a metal insulated cap for the top if you want. $350 could buy a lot of meat or wood. My two cents.
Well, to each and their own, but honestly, you can easily have too much smoke flavor. It is supposed to be smoked meat, not meat flavored smoke. Smoke shouldn't be the dominant flavor. It should compliment the meat. But hey, if that is what you like, cook it the way you like best.
I've had my 36 over a year and love it. I read a lot of people say they wish they would have gone with a larger unit. I guess I am one of the few that is glad I have my 36 and doesn't want a larger unit. I like to smoke 2 to 3 weekends out of a 4 week month. I usually cook for just my family...
Great score!
All you need now is a BBQ Guru. I'd recommend the DigiQ II. Remove the water pan and replace with a clay saucer. With the guru, I can get up to a 16 hour smoke with one ring of charcoal.
Smoke on!
No problem. I know what you mean by the air leaks. On my Chargriller, I sealed the main chamber around the lid with oven gasket, sealed where the fire box and main chamber bolt together with high temp sealant, sealed the firebox lid with high temp sealant and added a latch to ensure it stayed...
No disrespect meant, but your Charbroiler is nowhere in the same league as the Lang. I started out in a smiliar fashion with a Char-griller and modified it all out to make it better, but it was no Lang. Being that the Lang is 1/4 inch thick steel, you will find it holds it temperature very...
Ben is the one who quoted me that price. He said $1895 or thereabouts for the 36 Hybrid, which makes sense after looking at the website at the 48 and 48 hybrid..... Look at their website at the 48 patio. It's $1,595. The Hybrid version is $3,445. You are talking almost twice the price for a...
I've made some great BBQ with cheap smokers and top of the line. I started out with a direct flow Char-griller Super Pro with the side fire box that I got from Lowe's. Modded it to make it a crap smoker into a pretty decent one for the money. Then, I got a vertical Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM). I...
Before buying my Lang 36, I owned a Char-griller Super Pro with the side fire box and a Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM). I made some pretty good Que with both of them, especially after modding the Chargriller and adding a BBQ Guru to both units. That being said, I will say you can make some really...
I would NEVER drill a hole in my Lang. I made a BBQ Guru adapter out of a stainless steel bowl that perfectly fits over one of the pinwheel dampers and used a long bolt, fender washer and wingnut to secure it to the firebox. It just costs less than $10 for everything.
But after getting used to...
