    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

I get same temp across the grate within 10 degrees. If I go and build a crazy fire in it I’ll get as much as 50 degrees difference from one end to the other. It all comes down to fire management. I put the upper vent on my first build and like I said it’s always closed. I tried to use it but...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

If you’d look back a few comments you’d see we already went over this. Not a fan of the upper inlets that you are constantly promoting for whatever reason. A properly designed smoker with the right size openings and exhaust doesn’t need that extra opening. I can cold smoke on my 60 gallon RF...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Finally finished this smoker. Put some casters on it, fabbed the charcoal basket, a fire poker, and an ash clean out tool that doubles as a way to pull out and push in the charcoal basket. The charcoal basket is pretty heavy. I put platform grate in the bottom and expanded metal over that...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Got a lot done over the last few weeks. Door and counter weight are done. Exhaust is on there along with the cap. Grate is done. Base is all done except wheels. Put in temp probe ports. Got the firebox door put back on. I spent most of today cleaning up weld spatter and filling and...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Got a lot done in the last couple weeks. RF plate and drain are in. The RF plate has a half inch drop from the ends to the center. The center section I tacked to the tank then pushed down to make a trough. Poured some water in there and it drains pretty well. I put a flat spot on the FB for...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

I put it on my first smoker based off of info from this site. But I’m able to control my temps better with it closed. Temps fluctuated much more when trying to use it. I also get a very clean burning fire with no visible smoke most of the time. Not sure why it didn’t work out on my cooker...

Not a fan of the upper inlet. I put one on my first build and it’s always closed.

Got the cook chamber door cut out today and the opening from FB to CC. Door warped a little but didn’t look like it was gonna be to bad.

    120 gallon RF trailer build

Long time since an update. The trailer is on hold for a while. My buddy I’m building it for, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. So for the time being I delivered the smoker so they can use it. This was the first cook. St. Louis ribs, pork belly burnt ends, and beans. Will eventually...

    Another 120 gallon reverse flow

Been a long time since I’ve been able to work on this. Just got going on it again in the last couple weeks. Cut out and patched where the valves were and the name tag was so rusted I decided to just cut it out and patch it as well. I cut the opening from FB to CC and got them welded together...

    120 gallon RF trailer build

Actually I was going to put the seam opposite of the cooker, but now that you mention it I may put it under the cooker to be less noticeable. Kyle

    120 gallon RF trailer build

Got quite a bit done the last few days. All the cross members are tacked in ready to weld up. I cut the boat cross member from the rear and replaced with a flat peice. The diamond plate is just laying on there to mark where my Jr beams will go. Happy new year everyone!

    120 gallon RF trailer build

The trailer is 5’9” wide and I can only get diamond plate 5’x10’. So I’m going to have a very long weld seam pretty much the length of the trailer. I think I will get the frame sandblasted before the diamond plate goes on just to avoid any problems with rust down the road. Kyle

    120 gallon RF trailer build

Finally got a chance to work on the trailer some. I’ve got most of the cross beams tacked in. Still need a few in the tongue area and I need to cut the rear cross member out as it’s dropped for a boat. Then I’ll replace it with a flat peice. The other existing cross members will stay. I...
