Want to make jerky that is not soft questions

I have decided to start making jerky, and I really love Rileys brand and would like to make something similar.  It is not soft jerky.  When bent, it will break.  I think the recipe should be pretty simple, with soy sauce, garlic powder and pepper. Have any of you tried this type of jerky and...

    Question for Yoder owners

I just got my Yoder 480, and there is smoke coming out of the door.  Is this normal?  Not a tremendous amount, be more than I thought there would be.  I have never smoked before, so I am nervous. Thanks

Shipping of pellets is crazy expensive

I just found the closest Academy Sports, and it is only 1185 miles. I am thinking about making the trip on a long weekend. Just kidding. I appreciate the info, but I will have to find a closer supplier. I forund a guy who is a dealer for cookingpellets, and he sells the 40 pound bags for...

Shipping of pellets is crazy expensive

I just ordered my Yoder 480 with the comp cart, but I am starting to think I should have saved the $500 from the cart to spend on pellet shipping costs. This is borderline ridicules. I was on the cookingpellets website, and thought that the 40 lb bags of the mix looked good to try, so I put 2...

Is a Yoder worth the wait?

I have been in contact with Mike at Yoder.com sales.  He says that I can get the YS480 with either a yellow, or purple comp cart in 2 weeks. That is pretty good, even though those are not my first choice in colors.  I think that the short wait is worth it.  The wife will like the purple better...

    New member from California

Hello all, My name is Bert, and I have never smoked anything in my life, and I can't wait to get started. I love the taste of barbeque, but there just isn't very many places in my area that serve it. This is forcing me to learn to do it on my own, and since I am pretty lazy by nature, I...

Is a Yoder worth the wait?

I agree that 2 months is a long time to wait, but apparently if you want the competition cart, that is what you have to do. Wait. If not for the cart, the smoker would ship in 3-5 days, but if I am going to get a Yoder, I am getting exactly what I want. Thank you for the advice. Bert

Is a Yoder worth the wait?

I am new to smoking. Actually, I have never smoked, but I really want to start. I am ready to buy, but like most new people, I am suffering paralysis by analysis, and I would really appreciate a kick start. I really like the Yoder YS480 with the competition cart, and I would buy it...
