We have an 8 1/2 lb whole turkey.  I see a 12lb was done in 6 1/2 hours.

Can I surmise 81/2 lbs would be be done in 4 1/2 hours (1/2 hour per lb)

Smoking temp plays a huge roll in your question.  I smoke turkeys at 325F and have had an 18.3 lb'er done in 3.5 hours.  Another 18.3 lb'er with a stubborn smoker running at 250F to 280F took 4.5 hours.

What temp are you going to use to smoke your turkey?

I have a huge 26 pounder thawing now. Anyone have suggestions for temp and guess on how long to smoke? What wood to use? This would be my 1st turkey in Masterbuilt 40. Thanx in advance.
