never smoked prime rib . how long and what temps? is it good?
Its very good. Personally I smoke with the bone tied on and at about 225 with cherry wood. It takes me about an hour per lb on 8-10 lb'ers and I take them to about 138 many like them more on the rare side tho
yep, 120 to 125º internal temp. Wrap in foil and let rest for 30 mins. Carve and serve.
It can be the best you've ever had!
This is how I do it too, but I take it rarer to 130 and then let rest for 1/2 hour (after I cut off a piece for my mother and put it on a gas grill to get medium-well).
I think that cherry wood is key also. If you don't have that, be gentle with the harder stronger smoke that you do have.

It's lucky bear. I love the prime rib and if you can get it bone in go for it. The ones that I have smoked have takin about 50min-1 hour per pound and I'll take mine to about 140 then it in the foil and let it rest atleast 45 minutes and then you can carve. Good Luck cause thats a great hunk of meat.

I would look at Bearcarvers step by step tutorial to give you a basic process. You can give this a tweak to match your personal taste.
