Pittsburgh Smoke

         Hello, I am new to the forum.  We live about 20 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, PA.  I have the father of four sons(15, 15, 4,2) and have been marries to my beautiful wife for seven years.

         I started smoking about two years ago after watching BBQ Pitmasters on the Travel Channel.  At the time I wasn't sure if I would be any good at it or even like doing it so I bought a cheap Walmart charcoal grill and made due with that.  After a few Boston Butts I knew this would be for me.  Everyone loved my pulled pork and I had fun.

         This year I received a Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5 for Father's Day.  So far I've had two cooks on the WSM and they both went very well.

    I hope to learn a lot from the group.  Happy smoking!

    Welcome from SC, Ed. Learning backyard BBQ by watching Pitmasters is to me the same as reading a book on golf to get better. The only to really learn is to get in there and practice, practice. Also, it really helps to stay in touch with this site. There are tons of folks here that are eager to share their ideas, tips, recipes or anything else that you need. All you have to do is ask. Pitmasters is fun to watch, but it's a TV show. lol

    Pitmasters served as my inspiration. The only thing I've learned from that show is ....ummm well. Nothing. Lol
