Hello everyone, I just joined because I am going to start smoking for the first time. I have always wanted to but just wasn't sure how. I came across this site and was absolutely amazed by the wealth of knowledge and willingness to share with other. I don't have a smoker yet but looking real hard at a Weber Smokey Mountain and an Akorn and hope to have one by the end of this month.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to you, glad to hear that you're

taking up smoking (dang, my Dr. would choke if he heard that statement).

I have certainly heard many folks on here talk about both of the smokers you're looking at.

Mine is homemade, so I really can't speak from any experience.

Someone will be along shortly and give some insight on them.

One thing you can do is right up top on the right is a little magnifying glass looking thing.

Punch that and type in the smoker names.

Should get you quite a lot of info right there.

Also jump right out into the forums and ask, you will get answers.

Welcome from SC. It's good to have you on this great site. There are lots of really good folks here who are always eager to sheer their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading.

The WSM is a very good cooker. It's very user friendly and holds heat well.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe

Welcome to SMF!

I vote WSM too. Very easy to use, very well built. If your budget allows I would get the 22.5.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from a cloudy and soggy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.
