    Hi Folks!
My name is Mark. I live in Athens, GA. (Go Dawgs!) I've been smoking with a Bandera for several years now. I've done brisket, butts, foul, fish, chicken, salami... It's a great smoker (with the mods). I like it, but am starting to loose the rust battle on the firebox. I wish they made it in stainless. I'm thinking of switching to the Cabela stainless steel vertical propane smoker, but have always been a fan of thin, blue smoke from a good wood burn. Folks that have the Cabela's seem to love them, though. And the price is great for stainless. Any of you switch from the Bandera to vertical propane?
    Beer today, gone tomorrow,
    Mark

Hi Mark. It's nice to have you join us here. I don't experience with your smoker but I do own a vertical propane unit (camp chef smoke vault) and I have been very happy with it as have my family and friends who have sampled the variety of Q it produces.

    Welcome Mark -

I almost bought one of those but couldn't get my hands on one. Spray that puppy with cooking oil and let it burn in real good! Whenever you start to see it again spray it some more inside and out. It helps.

    Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome. New Braunfels made the Bandera. Academy sports still has a few, but they are of poor quality. Brinkman Smoke King is very similar (like a mirror image).
Good tip, Debi! I 've used alot of veg. oil on the thing over the years and it has helped. Georgia's climate is subtropical . Very hard on steel. The Bandera still has some life in it. I'm just planning ahead. Someone should make a stainless version.
