I have just bought my first smoker.  Charbroil with side box.  I bought a bag of mesquite wood, started the fire.  I have placed a small boneles pork roast on the grill over a water drip pan.  How am I doing so far?  Unfortunately the smaoker only has the "ideal" temp gauge no actually thermometer.  I think I need to go get more wood as I am almost out.  Any advice so far?

I think you're doing fine....let the temp settle in at your target and make sure to get a better temp gauge....also consider something like a Maverick digital thermometer.

There will be lots and lots of learning curves but that's the fun of it when enjoying smoking foods! ...Enjoy it!
