Hello folks, Scott Allison here from the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  I'm brand new to smoking and looking to learn alot.  I love watching BBQ Pitmasters, and recently was in California on vacation and happened upon a BBQ class by a Pitmaster from the show.  It was an all day class from Dave Tendick from Smokehouse 10 and he was on this seasons first episode in a competition in Florida.  I recently purchased a custom stick burner smoker made from a 72 gallon LP tank and I'm breaking it in today.  I just posted in the pork forum with my first butt on the smoker and will put a rack of ribs on in a bit.  Thanks all and I'll be in touch.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

If you didn't read the Terms of Service notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums. Rule #11......"Off Site Links are not allowed here at SMF" is something new. There are other simple guidelines for all of us to remember as we interact here.

If you need any help roaming around here in SMF....just give me a shout.  Happy to help any time!

Dude, I'll be looking for your thin blue smoke this summer as I float down the Shenandoah this summer!

Welcome aboard.

We frequently rent a cabin (owned by Shen River Outfitters) in Luray, and do day floats there.  But my buddy and I have been floating the same stretch from Front Royal (Morgan Ford bridge) to RT 7.  We camp on an island just about half way.  We hope to do this stretch again toward the end of summer.  The smallies are calling me!

Welcome to the forums, Scott!  Glad you've joined us.  You've found a great place to learn and share ideas on our favorite pastimes...grilling, smoking, and curing great food!  There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask any time you need help and you'll get plenty!
