Hello all,
Name is Thomas. I started off my adventure into smoking with a ecb smoke and grill from Walmart and modified it a lot to make it useable. To say the least I'm hooked! At the moment I found my dad has decided that that particular smoker needs to live at his place and I was in need of a smoker yet again. My wife being the wonderfully loving wife she is said no more than 300. So I found a old country ranch hand for 299.00 bought it then she got me a cover and a Therm for it. Did my first smoke on it today and I made a discovery. I think it has a preference for burning wood over burning charcoal. It would not get up to temp. But adding a few sticks of pecan and oak and it finally settled in and gave me tbs . Another thing is it does not leak at all! I am impressed with this smoker. Any one else have the old country ranch hand? Turned out a amazing Boston butt for dinner! I also realized that I absolutely made the right choice going from a upright to a horizontal.
