Thanks for the comments guys. Joe, The reason I haven't closed in the fire box yet is because I'm still designing it. I'm going to have it laser cut and I'm just finishing up the placement of the dampers. Hoping to have it on by the end of the month. Might be overkill but it should work out great.
Blacktop, Just another failed attempt at humor. Your build looks great. I only wish that I had the skill to try a build. It must be very rewarding. Please don't take offence at my comment. Joe
No offence taken Joe! Just thought I'd explain as I'm sure someone out here is probably wondering why it hasn't been done. Can't wait to light the first fire!
Got the chimney on and the thermometers. Just need to make the guards for the thermometers yet then the exterior should be near done (minus the firebox door/dampers). I'm still hoping to have it done by the end of April. Fingers crossed.
Got the guards for the thermometers and handle for the cook chamber on. Started working on the fire box side door as well should hopefully have it on tomorrow.
Managed to get the firebox finished up today. Just need to build a grate for the coal/wood. Also got the drain on and fabed a handle. Only a few things left, damper on the chimney, expanded metal on the cooking grates, exterior shelf on the cook chamber, and the grate for the firebox. Then paint. Can't wait!
Got my fire grate whipped up, food racks done, and exterior shelf about 2/3's done. Just need to make the prop rod for the shelf, damper for the chimney, and the door stops for the cook chamber and top firebox door. Hopefully get it banged out by the end of the week. Not much time on the weekends now that it's race season.
