Pork tenderloins were on sale at the grocery store this week. $1.99/lb for honey mustard flavor and $2.49/lb for plain all natural. Picked one of each up and did the mustard one in the oven the other night. It was good...but I wanted more. Tonight I decided to just grill the plain one at the last minute. Rubbed it down with my go-to about 30 minutes before I put it on. Just did it indirectly on the Smokey Joe.

About a half chimney of Kingsford Competition with a handful of pecan chips.

After about 35 minutes indirect, flipping once, I put it over the coals. It was about 120 internal at this point.

Double wrapped it in HD foil, brought it up to the apartment and started the sides. Quinoa with roasted garlic and broccoli with cheese sauce.

All in all it was a hit. The pork was freakin' awesome, great smokey flavor and butter tender. And all in under an hour!!

Thanks everybody. We call them pork filet mignon, and they're every bit as tender as their beef counterparts. I think I'm going to go back today and stock up.

It came out of a package. I just followed the directions. 😃
All the yapping extolling the virtues of quinoa had annoyed me to the point that I vowed never to eat the stuff. Then I saw it on sale and decided I was being silly and should try it at least once. I was somewhat underwhelmed. The flavor and texture wasn't bad, kind of like a cross between cous cous and bulgar wheat. However, I was expecting to awake this morning looking 20 years younger and being able to fly. Sadly, the same old earthbound codger looked back at me from the mirror as I brushed my remaining teeth.

Well, it WOULD have worked, but you offset the "good boy points" of the quinoa with a handful of "there you go again" strikes in the cheese sauce, so it ended up being a wash ...

    Thanks, anyway ...

Oh Dude.....thx so much for the needed morning belly laugh. I too am sick of the hype on this shit and refuse to bite. I do enjoy a good cous cous or plain ol' sticky rice with a meal. The loin looks awesome though..and a super price on tenderloin...well played......Willie

Thanks Willie! In all fairness, the stuff was pretty tasty. I'm just wired to be dubious of any sort of "miracle food". I get the feeling it's more fad than fact. I'm not saying it's not good for you, but so is oatmeal and leafy greens. And I don't have to listen to the hipsters droning on and on endlessly about those.
