Congrats on the smoker. Welcome to the club. Welcome to the forum.

Repeat after me - "Low and Slow". That is one of the keys to a successful smoke.

If you want advice on something specific, just ask. People here are very helpful. You may get a hundred different answers because everyone's experience/tastes varies, but that's true with anything.

Don't be afraid to dive in. Chose a dish, search the forum and go for it. Lots of tasty ideas and experience here. So many ways to use your smoker from ribs to fatties, meatloaf to ABTS.

Most of all, have fun and eat well!

Welcome. Start by taking the free 5-day Ecourse and searching your smoker, Lots of info to get you started. Next, learn how to control that smoker and search the type of meat you wish cook. Lots of recipes and tricks to get whay you want done...JJ

Howdy. Rookie here as well. I've been smoking chickens as way to learn my smoker. I've smoked three chickens, and a rack of ribs, so far. Each smoke has been a learning experience. I have a good handle now on controlling the temperature. And also have been eating lots of delicious chicken, even the one I consider a failure was better than any restaurant.

In other words, just start using it!

Not sure why you have two threads asking the same question, but don't be afraid to just jump in with both feet. Pick a meat, research it, and smoke it.
One thing I'd get is a quality digital thermometer. Maverick makes a dual probe that makes monitoring both meat and pit temps easy.

Welcome from SC. I hope you enjoy the site. Sorry I can't say anything about your particular cooker, I have never been around one. So far you have gotten some good pointers. The Ecourse is great and the various forums have a ton of info that will help.

Good luck with it and Keep on smokin', Joe
