  1. I was in Sams the other day looking for baby backs and all they had were called back ribs.
Are they one in the same or is there a difference in baby backs vs back ribs?
    Thanks in advance

I have seen them in the store labelled Top Loin Back ribs. If they were smaller than spares, and pork, then they were probably baby backs.

    They are the same.

    from Wikipedia....

"Baby back ribs, sometimes called loin ribs or simply back ribs, are taken from the top of the rib cage between the spine and the spareribs, below the loin muscle."

  5. They looked like baby backs but they appeared to be a little larger, I figured that they were one in the same but I was not sure.

Good answers so far. Baby backs are also back ribs...just smaller....when they are cut and packed, slabs that weigh 1.75 lbs or less are labeled "baby backs", whereas, slabs that weigh more than that are just called "back ribs".

At least that's what they taught me in the restaurant biz...[IMG]

Either way, they are both a good product, and you might be able to get the back ribs a little cheaper than the bb's.

    Hope this helps,
    Eric

Yep, they are the same thing. I bought mine at Sam's also. They came packaged with three racks in a package. Looks like pic below

Yep, over the weight limit and they are no longer true "baby back" ribs.........but they are the same cut.
