A Cleveland Craigslist find. Just over a year old WSM 18.5”. The guy had put in a real nice thermometer in the hood. In excellent condition. I drove 45 minutes yesterday and picked it up.
I just couldn’t pass it up! Thanks to the encouragement of folks here, and my gorgeous wife who when I told her about it said – “so go get it,” I have myself an awesome WSM!
I assumed it was being sold due to lack of use. Not so – the guy used it quite a bit last year, but has a $3000 unit coming from Texas this week. Nice guy. He said he hated to part with it – called it his “baby” – but doesn’t have the room, and wants to make sure he uses his new smoker.
I fired it up at 6:30 this morning. Have a chuckie and two boneless turkey breasts. Wasting no time putting it to use! (Qview to come later)
Unbelievable how quickly it got up to temp, and how it’s holding steady thus far. But then, that’s what I’ve been told about the unit, and what makes it so good to use.
I’ve read so many good things about the WSM – I am stoked to join the “club.” Pics and update later this morning.
