Displaced Yankee from Kingwood, Tx on board.

Born & raised in NY. Thought BBQ was burgers, dogs & chicken slathered in sauce for the first half of my life. Got to TX and found the real deal.

Got a Brinkman 5 in 1 about 18 years ago and have been an addict ever since. Graduated to a New Branfels about 12 years ago, still have it although it's been retired for a few years now. Currently using 2 Outdoors Products. Smokey Mt propane fired uprights to smoke for family and also for customers. I run a pretty successful small catering biz here in Houston.

When not smoking I'm usually grillin' or fryin'!

Great site, hope to learn from y'all & share where I can.

Jeff

Welcome Chef Jeff. You have a great resume going there. Like some have stated before you have a great many years of experience that hopefully we can all learn from.

Welcome fellow non-native Texan! I'm originally from NY (46 yrs - Watertown, 70 mi. above Syracuse) also but got here as fast as I could! In Fort Worth for the last 12 yrs.
Brought up in my dad's meat store and we cured and smoked hams, bacons, (anything that squealed) etc. plus sausages, and full fresh meat counter. Went on to be a meat manager and district meat, deli and bakery supervisor for Great American/Victory Mkts. in upstate NY for 15 yrs also.
Look forward to hearing about your catering business! In retail now, but retirement is coming and going to need a money-maker to stay busy!

Appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to hanging out here. Howdy to all the other newb's!

Been reading some really great build posts and recipes. Some of y'all are unbelievably talented! The build posts have me thinkin' about signing up for some welding classes at the local CC!

Pops, I'm from LI, born in Queens & raised in Bethpage. Family is all up in Monroe now, not far from West Point & Bear Mt.
