Though I have to admit, I'm a transplant (very few people are from San Diego) from Oklahoma. A small town called Muskogee - which is where I learned about bbq. After moving around the U.S. (Navy) for several years, I settled in San Diego but wasn't able to find really good bbq - so I bought a smoker and started working on it. I started with a small charcoal smoker with the box on the side and now, I'm using a Masterbuilt GS40 because I want to start with briskets. So I consider myself a newb and I'm hoping to continue learning!
