Green (Long) horn here

  1. Hi Ya'll, my name is Gene and I live just a little south of Austin, TX. Smack dab in the middle of Longhorn and great BBQ country. We go to Lockhart for BBQ and never miss a UT game on the TV. I hope to learn to do the BBQ at home on a pellet smoker with the help of Ya'll. I have a Camp Chef DLX coming this week and I'm shaking in my boots since I know less than nothing about the process or the grill. I am 80, a retired central office telephone equipment installer and I retired in 1990 and never looked back once. Looking forward to learning my way around the site and have joined the Pellet and the Texas groups. This is going to be a really great time plus we get to eat our mistakes. Thanks to all for providing  such a fantastic place to hang out.

Hey Gene.  You must have had a busy retirement if it's taken this long to get a smoker.  [IMG]

You will find plenty of help and ideas for smoking round here.
