So made the ribs Sunday before the game. We ate em Monday as well..The left overs went into work with the wife today... While her co-workers were feasting on ribs I was smoking a couple of butt's that I rubbed with Kirklands Sweet Mesquite and the other in Big Ron's Hint of Houston...

These were rubbed then injected with Apple Cider, Worchester, some HoH,

Couple hours in just putting the probes in...

Coming out at 170 and going into the pan to be foiled...
Little Apple Cider and a little of both rubs mixed in....

All Shredded up and getting ready to make some Sammiches...

Looks great! Nice when you can make so many folks happy with your Q!
I really loved the look of the second one, I'm guessing that was the "Big Ron's Hint of Houston"?
What's that rub like and do you have a recipe/site I can maybe order from?

WOW! The rub, and the transformation of the bark is spectacular!

That's how it's done, and I always like to have leftover smoke to share as well.

Gunner those look awesome. Did you leave them in the pan the whole smoke? I'm with fiU on that second one. Just shake some of that delious looking rub on a piece of toast for me

No they smoked on the grate until they hit 170ish then because I was lazy and didnt want to foil them individually I put them in the pan with 1/4" of apple cider, and a good handful of both rubs, then foiled the top an tossed them back in the smoker.

Once it was all pulled I sprinkled a healthy dose of Hint of Houston on it all then cut some of my Cherry/Chipotle sauce with some of the liquid from the pan and mixed that in... I reserved the remaining liquid for the tamales that I am going to make on Sunday.

The Hint of Houston was the smaller of the 2 so you are correct.

I know alot of people prefer to make their own rubs, me personally I have a helluva time following recipes exactly even my own so I wanted to find a commercially available rub that my family and friends really liked, I started out with a total of 6 rubs and this is the one that we al settled on.. For me I picked the easy button... and theirs nothing easier than spending a little cash.. A little time on the web and then viola I have 5lbs of rub on my doorstep 3 days later.

Ron's website is www.bigronswebsite.com I don't stand to gain anything by sending business his way other than the satisfaction that if you try his rubs you will keep a small businessman going strong in rough economical times..

Also when ordering there is a donation button to send rubs to our troops... Ron just sent a metric crap ton of rubs and assorted Que accesories over to some guys stationed in the middle east. They also sent over a couple of WSM's as well.

Now you did a great job on the butts. You should always do more than you need for thats same reason LEFTOVERs are the BOMB. Now that PP is something the wife says we can never run put of in the freezer I'm told. The other is pastrami.

  15. Thanks Gunner for the kind words!  I am finally finding this forum.  If you like chili try my new Big Ron's Texas Chili Mix.  I am very proud of it and hope it will do well.  Take care
