I currently have a wood/ charcoal smoker im pondering converting to an electric smoker by installing a heating element. My first thought was to add it the element to the bottom of the cooking chamber which will still allow me to use the original fire box for conventional wood/charcoal smoking. My perceived advantage is that this will allow me cook without having to babysit the smoker as often. Right now I get about 3 hours of uninterrupted cooking time before my temperature drops and I have to add fuel. Has anyone tried this before on this particular model cooker?
