I am doing some ribs and wings tomorrow and I usually do the wings on the grates but wondered, does anyone smoke then in a foil pan? If so, do they get enough smoke on them? I've seen people doing shoulders in a pan but curious on doing wings like that.
Just got my Smoke Hollow 3615GW 36-Inch Propane Gas Smoker and now I'm looking for some mods. Pretty sure I'll end up sealing the door better but I am curious about maybe adding a smoke stack to it. Currently it has a vent in the back up top but thought maybe it should be extended. I will be...
I picked up a bag of hickory and apple. Going to use them in my a-maze-n tube. Hope they burn good and have a good smoke flavor. $8.99 a bag at a local farm n feed store, Rural King.
Now just waiting on the new replacement smoker to arrive tomorrow.
I am using them in my a-maze-n tube. Hopefully they do well. Previously I used the ones from a-maze-n but they are a bit more in price plus I have to order them. I should have enough to last while.

If the tube works for you as you say, no real need. many that use the mailbox mods are those that use the tray.
I tried using my tube in a mailbox but I just tried using one of the existing vents on my smoker. Didn't work well and then realized I need to cut a hole in the upper chamber, I have...
"If you had it enter above the top of the lower door you'd have better luck."
OK that is what I was suspecting. I just didn't want to start cutting holes all over the place of it was something else.
I have had a needle valve on my smoker for many years. I also have gasket material on both doors.
As I said before, I have used the tube in the smoker but I usually fight it to keep it going due to the oxygen issue. Yours might work ok but you have a different smoker than I do.
Also if you...
No diffuser plate.
dirtsailor2003, I've had issues with the tube inside as well. There I clearly know that the burner is eating all of the oxygen. This is why I am attempting the MB mod.
"Once you start applying heat inside the body of the smoker, convection or the "stack effect" should get air moving upwards towards the top vent naturally. As the hot air naturally rises it "draws" colder air in from the ducting which draws air in from the mailbox. That's basically how it...
