I got an RT-700 2 weeks ago and have been cooking every day on it since. IMO, quality is top notch. Assembly was very easy. And this thing smokes, grills, bakes, with ease. Great temperature control. My wife loves it because she hasn't cooked for 2 weeks. Customer support has been excellent. I...
Search the forum, a couple of members have piped their vents outside an enclosed space. My MES is currently under the patio near our back door, but the smoke works its way into the house, driving my wife crazy, so I might do something similar. Here's a picture of a 3" duct I have in the vent hole.
I just did the mailbox mod with AMNPS for my MES 30. No fan needed. The heat rising up through the MES to the vent at the top will suck the smoke right out of the mailbox through the chip loader duct into the MES. It works great and is a very simple mod.
Thanks for info. I smoked a pork butt yesterday with the MES 30, mailbox and AMNPS. I covered all the mounting holes in the bottom of the box and left the 3 on the door I drilled wide open. This seem to improve airflow across the "top" of the AMNPS and up the duct at the back. This smoke I also...
With the holes on bottom sealed and the 3 1/2" holes on the door, the mailbox worked perfect on a 15 hour pork butt smoke yesterday. I got a good 11-12 hours of TBS out of the mailbox with the AMNPS. There was still some smoke coming off of it when I pulled the butt at 15 hours.
The heat and...
I see you have a MES stand on your smoker. I was able to rig a mount for my mailbox using aluminum channel rails and u-bolts. You can see the rails in the picture below. In the future, I might do an additional mode to have the ducting enter into the top of the box instead of the back, for a more...
After a first test run on my mailbox mod, I sealed all the holes on the bottom of the box. Once I start the AMNPS, I want to control the venting with the holes I drilled on the front door. I can't do that with the holes on the bottom, once smoke has started.
Great looking meat. I did a pork butt yesterday also. 6.7 pounds and took almost 15 hours. It stalled for about 3 hours around 155. But I got some great pulled pork out of it.

I've tried it there with good air circulation under it, heating elements still burn up right two rows of pellets. Air circulation is not the issue, the heating elements being too close is. See picture below. The AMNPS just will not work properly in the new MES 30 2.5, on the bottom left on drip pan.
Completed my mailbox mod yesterday on my MES 30. Today I'm doing a 6.7 pound pork butt. Love the mailbox mod. I'm on over 7 hours on continuous TBS so far. I highly recommend the mod.
