    Conflicting calculations??

Don't bother with Dave's idea of upper and lower inlets. It doesn't work. FYI. I have built over 1000+ pits to date and don't use a a calculator. Fire box to cook chamber needs to be as large as you can reasonably make it.

DIY Reverse flow smoker won't get hot or sustain big fire - modification/project

Does not work. I have tried it. Just go with 1 intake as low as you can on the firebox.

    New to me refurbish

Seal the main door (the temporary works but won't last) Don't go ape shit mad and weld it solid like half the ones you see on the web. Less welding means less warping. I stitch it about every 5 ". It was full of gunk as the stack was not able to draw a vacuum with that narly door leaks. Run...

    500 gallon of smoker build

Here's something I managed to stick together this week. Used a mix of chewing gum, dirt and hair off a pig to glue it together. Probably going to fall apart before you finish reading it.

Smokers I have been slapping together

Yep the hotplate works great and also serves to gain enough ground clearance under the firebox. lay down stack make easy storage in low garages etc.

    New smoker build

I second Dave on that. I don't see anything good coming from a valve between the cook chamber and firebox. Worry more about the main door sealing 100% will have more effect than anything.

    500 gallon of smoker build

Not sure the trailer is up to task for a 500 gallon smoker. With firebox and grates you will be at about 750kg. Personally I would build a more sturdy trailer.

Rectangular RF Smoker from Holland (Europe)

You can buy steel in 90x90mm in Holland? Personally I would use 100x100 and 3.2mm (1/8) is plenty for a stack. Your firebox is mounted low and is a tall shape already so you will have good natural air flow through the smoker as well. my 2 cents.

New member here... insulated reverse flow cabinet smoker build

Stale smoke in a smoker is an old wives tale or myth. If your exhaust is restricted too much it will cause the fire to burn incomplete and cause creosote. Smoke inside a smoker is dynamic and as it heats/cools it will move around and pass out the stack.

New member here... insulated reverse flow cabinet smoker build

Hi there. I can get my big pits up to temp in 20-25 mins starting the wood with a weed burner for 1 min (they are 1200 kg of insulated steel) . I have built a bunch of large insulated verticals and to me your exhaust is too small. I am leaning towards more and more water in my smokers. I...

Rectangular RF Smoker from Holland (Europe)

I would shorten the stack a little. Looks long and thin in the sketch. It will draw fine being a little shorter.
