The call to MB on mo day should be interesting. I don't know if a new unit I got under warranty has a warrant. Either way that's got to be manufacturer defect
I just got the Might Temp Sensor, after another 8 day wait. I got it installed and same issue. I called Masterbuild back and now they are sending me a new body. I'll have to swap my door, shelves and wood tray over to it.
This is absolutely ridiculous.
I don't know what that is.
I called Masterbuilt back and the lady I talked too said I should have been sent a new high temp sensor also and that will solve my issue. It shipped today and should be here by Friday. If that doesn't work they will warranty the entire unit out for a new one.
One...
So after waiting 10 days, I finally got the Main Control Board in the mail. That is way to long to have to wait for a part that ships state side, especially since I explained to them I had over $220 worth of salmon brined ready to smoke. I put the MCB in and turned it on, it seemed to be fine so...
On Sunday, after about 45 minutes of messing with it I was finally able to get the MES 40 up to temp.
I just got off the phone with MB, he said it sounds like the circuit board. He got my name and address and said a new circuit board will ship today. Can't really beat that. I'll update after...
I have an MES 40 I got new in October. I've used it 3 times since without issue. I store it indoors with the cover on. I rolled it out this morning to start smoking a ham for Easter. When I turned it on the display read 273* despite it being 37* outside. Since its reading a false 273* the...
Just finished my first Turkey. 16lbs, Cajun Butter injected with a Cajun rub smoked 9 hrs with Apple chips.
Also smoked some Tillamook Extra Sharp Chedder, Tillamook Pepper Jack, Mozzarella sticks and summer sausage. They are all so damn good!
I just lit my A-Maze-N for the first time without issue. I used a Propane torch, the same one I use to solder plumbing, without issue. Now when I went too blow it out is another story. Took me 5 mins to blow the flame out and that was holding it at an angle so the flame wouldn't catch anymore...
Thanks for the info.
I have 10 chicken leg quarters in the smoker right now with some apple chips set at 225*. Its 42* and raining out and this machine is staying 223-227* Pretty damn impressive!
I'm new to all this and just got my MES 40 BT and A-Maze-N tray today. The MES is seasoning right now.
Can't you just put the tray in the bottom of the MES workout doing the whole mailbox deal? I don't think it would produce much heat.
Got my MES 40 BT just now and got it put together. Since I live in the Puget Sound region I had to build a make shift Smokin Shelter to season it. So far I'm really impressed with the quality of this unit and the Bluetooth feature is nice when is cold and rainy out.
Great write up. I just purchased the MES40 BT with 6 racks to smoke some of the 30lbs of Chinook and Coho salmon that I have in the freezer. Hopefully I'll get a few more fish in the next few weeks before the run is over to smoke up.
