I was on a pretty good roll this week until the mig welder ran out of shielding gas. I was in the process of installing the rear reverse flow panels and the welds started to spit like crazy. So I just have them tacked in for now. I moved onto some less welding intensive components. Fab'd the shelf rails (out of old be frame rails) and got the bottom shelf reenforced. IA quick stress test showed that some of the welds had pretty crappy prenetration so I will have to go back over some of them. Hopefully in a few weeks Ill have the smoker and grill ready for sandblasting and then onto paint!

Got tons done today! All the major stuff on the main smoker is done. I just need to work on the grill.

-finished installing the reverse flow pan

-fixed crappy welds on bottom rack

-made top rack

-made charcoal basket

-attached main door stop <-- opinions? Does it look weird? I have been trying to think of something to use and saw this handle thing. It is much easier to pull down then when it rested on those two pads since it allows the door to rest just beyond its center of gravity. Because of the way it rakes backward cooking tools could be hung from it when not in use and not get in the way of the door.

I have 5 weeks left to finish it for the wedding. I think I'll have it done in the next 2 or 3!

Wow Monday was HOT!! Got a few small things done. Fab'd the grate and burner for the grill. I got the propane tube burner concept from here. I prefer buying whatever I can from Amazon so I bought this regulator instead. Same specs... 10 psi and 1/8" npt thread orifice (even though it says 1/4"). I did test it when about half the slots were cut but didn't get a pic. It was burning a little yellow (too much gas) but the additional slots should resolve that. Ill post a pic as soon as I have a chance to play with it again.

Will having the stack vent on the same end as the hot box cause a cool spot on the other end?

If it is going to be designed for a trailer, consider the hot box to the rear.

So your chimney is on the same side as your fire box?  Won't that allow the heat and smoke to go from the fire box up and out the chimney?  If the chimney were on the other side of the smoke box and down in the smoke box about six inches the heat and the smoke would have to travel across the smoke box before exiting.  Just a thought.

Correct if your building  just a side fire box, but if you look at the first pic in that last group you will see a reverse flow plate.  This is a baffle that runs under the grates and creates convection heat off of the plate and the smoke come back across the chamber to exit.  This is called a reverse flow smoker

ALL DONE! (-)Minus blasting and paint. I got the burner installed on the grill and mounted it to the trailer. Also fixed the inlet baffles which weren't attached very well and removed the stops on the top which arent needed anymore due to the addition of the blue bar. Started adding some mesh that was left over from the scrapped grills around the inside of the trailer walls to contain any wood or materials during transport. I'll have to remove the main door handle before I take it the blaster on saturday but blasting is the last big hurdle!

I'm pretty sure the orifice was fine... I just opened up the air holes too large trying to get a better burn. It looks like my burner is 6-12" longer than yours which is why I thought my holes needed to be larger than you called out in your thread. I'll double check my orifice though since I did buy a different regulator than you called out for.
