can You burn enough chunks to keep a coal bed going?

I would keep the charcoal base or lump for heat and add wood from there.

AcademySports seems to always have bags of mini logs on sale that would probably be a good fit for your fire box. They are the same brands and wood types as the chunks, just a larger product. That might make it easier to do an all wood fire.

If you can process your own wood, cut and split to easily fit into the FB. Start a charcoal fire, let it settle in and add a few mini splits. If you can't make them, try to locate large chunks.

I agree with the above! I have an Okie Joe similar smoker to yours and I start out with lump charcoal for a base and from there feed it chucks and sticks of wood that I process myself.
