I have used orange wood to smoke with for years. We cut 80 old growth trees off my property and I stock piled a bunch of the wood. It burns very clean and leaves only a fine greyish ash. We even used a bunch in the fireplace.
My experience with it is a mild smoke taste. I would recommend it.
If your going to smoke on it plan on making some mods to it. The lid on the smoker side of mine has a bad gap. I had to use 1/2 inch round high temp insulation on mine. Also added 3 inch dryer hose to extend the stack down to the grate level. I really like it just had to make a few changes to it.
Cover has Velcro and expands to cover the gas burner and the side fire box. I have used charcoal and wood in mine and I also use a water pan. I have had great luck smoking two big Boston butts and several racks of ribs.
I know in Florida you can build a trailer and register it as a homemade one. No differenceand I think you can request a VIN number for it. One other thing you might consider is stamping your SS number on the trailer and tanks in a hidden location. In the event it gets legs and disappears. Just a...
