When I used to grill, I would use my Grandma's moethod. I would parboil my ribs first for about 45 minutes in water with spices thrown in. I would the toss them on the grill for about 8-10 minutes a side. This way I found that they would stay moist and tender without drying out.
Hey there fellow Vancouverite, welcome. I am new here as well, and to smoking, but so far I have learned a lot from here; the people here are very friendly and knowledgeable. I can tell this is going to be a delicious summer!!!
Thanks guys, I was thinking some more chickens, they were quite succulent, or maybe a couple of different fatties.
When you say try a pork butt, should I try one just to get it to cooked, or do you figure I should try to go for the pulled pork temp of ~200? I will also be starting to play...
Just got my first smoker a little bit ago ( a small horizontal offset) and this weekend did my first chickens. I just used some store bought bbq chicken seasoning and threw them on the grill. I had a bit of trouble keeping the heat consistent, stayed mostly between 225 and 240, but did have it...
Just picked up this small charbroil offset smoker. It's my first one so I didn't want to go all out but seems to be okay so far. I still have more of the suggested mods to make, but I was able to smoke a fatty and a couple of chickens in my first two smokes and it seemed to turn out okay.
It's already begun.

This is a brewer from Portland, they teamed up with a local donut shop that had a maple bacon donut, and turned it into a beer. It tastes good, very smokey with a hint of sweetness.
I did this a few years ago, then finally got rid of my tv too a couple years ago. Don't really miss it, only for football season and hockey playoffs. Now I pick up new hobbies every so often to keep me entertained, and to learn a bit of something I didn't know before. I found when I had it I...
Thanks for this, I can't wait to try my basket out. I just bought my first smoker last weekend ( a small cheapo horizontal offset), and the "charcaol grate" it came with has spaces about an inch wide, so my coals tended to fall through easily, leading to my fire basically sitting right on the...
Hey guys, I am about to pick up an offset smoker, and I was wondering about seasoning it. Since I will be mostly looking to season the inside of the smoke chamber, should I just throw my hot coals on the grill in there? Or is it better just to put them in the fire box like you normally would...
Hello, thanks for having me. So after many years of propane grilling I have switched over to cooking with charcoal. For now I just have a little portable charcoal grill, as I wanted to try it out without breaking the bank. After a few successful gos at grilling, this past weekend I decided to...
