If you have a Costco nearby, check and see if they carry tri tip. The ones here (Calif) do. I bought a vacuum pak containing five tri tips for $4.99/lb. That's a lot of meat for us at one time, but it's prime grade, with no fat cap. I used to get them at Smart & Final for about $3.59/lb...
My favorite are the 3-per cyrovac baby back ribs, going from $3.59 to $3.99/lb. As someone here said, they are very meaty and the membrane has been removed already so you save a bit of time! Other brands at the regular markets simply do not compare.
