New to Forums new to smoking. Need help on which electric smoker to purchase.

I had a Komado Egg for 2 years and never learned how to use it reliably.  I tried everything to keep it low and slow. Could not leave it for much more than an hour.  Did modifications to close up every possible air leak, bought new thick gaskets, everything…… finally I came to the conclusion...

    MES question

Being a hobbyist wood worker, I have plenty of saw dust of several varieties.  It's just a matter of remembering to save some before it goes into the suction. I really do like the dust smoker and the people at A-MAZ-N are fantastic.   I made a sort of canopy out of a disposable baking pan...

    MES question

Me too.  I foil my flats at 165 and stick them right back in the smoker.  Don't alter my temp or move the vent.  My A-MAZE-N dust smoker is usually just about gone when the flat hits 165. I run the flats at 235 and take them up to 200 internal.

Been using my Akorn for 2 months now.  Load my Minion full, light it, and pour it on unlit briqs down in the pan depending on whatever I'm doing .....if a big brisket or big butt, the lit Minion goes over about twice that many unlit briqs.  If I'm doing ribs or chicken, I use about 1 chimney of...

    First smoke, first ribs

I started with a Master Forge bullet just like yours. Go to Google and search El Cheapo Brinkman Modifications for some great ideas. Like the Brinkman, the MF Bullet is loaded with problems and disadvantages : It leaks air nearly everywhere.  It cannot be effectively regulated to low temps. It...

Maiden voyage on MF Bullet and my first smoke ever.

Thanks to all of the replies.  Great info. You bet I'll try lump charcoal. My photos still haven't shown up. Hmmmmmmm Maybe I did something wrong. It's a big downer to post photos and have them disappear into the cyberspace. Needless to say.... no more photos from me!! Sunny From Bosque County

Maiden voyage on MF Bullet and my first smoke ever.

Hey, I understand the reason for holding newbie's photos ..... Might be lurking as a vegetarian or a PETA whacko and post photos that would be pretty disgusting ..... it's dangerous out there in the cyberworld.   I sure hope my photo of Ms B. doesn't hit the cutting room floor. She is pregnant...

Maiden voyage on MF Bullet and my first smoke ever.

As I review my post, none of the photos I inserted in the original came out on the website. What happened??? There must be some reason. I can't find any suggestions or guidelines concerning inserting photos. The preview looked just fine. I hit "submit" and the photos disappeared. Sunny

Maiden voyage on MF Bullet and my first smoke ever.

Wanted to learn to smoke for a long time. Figured a WSM was what I wanted. Then found the Master Forge Bullet ..... what a deal, what a country!!! Bought a 12 lb brisket, cut it in half and decided to smoke the big end today. Slathered it with yellow mustard and SPG (salt pepper garlic...

    Newbie from Central Texas

Have wanted to get into smoking beef for some time. A recent issue of United Services Coop magazine that was dedicated to Texas Barbeque gave me the final push to jump in. Did research online for a couple of weeks and kept coming back to this site. Finally, I convinced myself that a Weber SMJ...
