What screws do I use to reattach the back of a MES?

Actually... Not yet. Final piece of the puzzle.... I'm attaching the back plate now and surprise surprise, I don't have those screws. I pulled a screw off my other MES and it fits fine so I'm wondering if anyone knows what screw this is? Probably going try to run off to home depot or Lowes...

Help! Trying to reassemble MES internals. Don't have screws

Thanks for the advice!! I was wondering if the heating element would be ok if I just left that stuff out. Glad you can be a real world example that everything will be ok!! :) I've actually had a MES 30 for the past few years. Been using the smoking tube for the last 3. I picked up this one...

Help! Trying to reassemble MES internals. Don't have screws

I want to reattach the smoke box that sits above the heating element. Im thinking I need some kind of stainless nut and bolt combo. And.... I'm also not sure if it should be actually sitting ON the element? I have to press down onto the heating element in order to line up the holes for when...

Help! Trying to reassemble MES internals. Don't have screws

Hi all, I got a used MES that was disassembled to replace the heating element before I got to it. The previous owner couldn't get it heating properly but I managed to fix it. BUT... I can't figure out how to reassemble it. There are no screws... I'm guessing duct tape and crazy glue are...

What screws do I use to reattach the back of a MES?

Hey all, I just finished fixing up my MES (temperature limiter switch needed replacing). I drilled out the back rivets to remove the back panel and now I'm all ready to put the back panel back on but have no idea what screws I need to buy. Do I get sheet metal screws? Self tapping? self...

MB Wood Chip Loader Replacement - Help!

I agree with all the others so far. I have an 3" vent elbow inserted into the chip loader slot with short length of vent and an A-maz-N smoker tube that I get smoking then insert so its leaning on the vent. Works great for me! I should also say that I got my MES used and have never used the...

Soldering remote control circuit board to MES ?

I don't think its possible to directly solder the remote to the cable that was connected to the MES controller. (This is based off my assumptions about the unit but I am was educated as a computer engineer and electronics technologist. I've out of the loop for a while so take what i say with a...

    Help with heating

It would be one of three things: 1) Bad heating element. Just can't get past 141F and some sort of damage is preventing it from heating it up more 2) Bad thermal switch. Should allow you to head to 302F but it might be damaged and breaking early is it consistently stoping at 141F?) 3) Bad...

Tired of bad thermometers, built my own

Ahhhh, that makes more sense now! I'm planning to make something similar but put it off because was getting annoyed at how expensive the shipping was to Canada for the AD8495 chip!!  Well, that and my daughter is teething. Going to to with Arduino with mine.  I got a board sitting around doing...

Tired of bad thermometers, built my own

I've been looking to do something like this. This is AWESOME!!!   :) I got a question about the HeaterMeterPi schematic: you have the pit probe going through the preamp circuit (AD849x), but not the other probes? K-type thermocouples produce mV output, I'm just trying to figure out how you...

    Absolute newbie from Calgary, Canada

Hey Wolf, Thanks for the starter info!  :) I just finished cleaning up the smoker and tested it out.  It works fine for about a minute or so, then when it gets to a certain temperature, it trips the breaker. My breaker is 15A and the smoker uses 6.7A (nothing else running on the same...
