I have never faced any difficulty working on the Akorn Kamado. In fact it is very easy to control the temperature on this one. Quite precise in nature. Of course sometimes retaining it at the same temperature becomes an issue. On the whole it is an OK buy.
Ummm,, sell the offset smoker and the gas griddle and may be you can get a smoker-grill combo. This combination equipment will solve your purpose of smoking as well as grilling and it will get you some room in the kitchen!
My sister owns a Dyna-Glo Offset Smoker and it surely is worth the money. We use it when we have large gatherings , which frequently happen at her place!! Its large cooking space is perfect for such large crowd! owing to its height, i notice that it uses lesser coal as compared to others.
Well, you can definitely use the Weber Smokey Mountain smoker as a grill but it works better to smoke meat. I would suggest you to try a grill or a smoker griller combo. Else it will be a little difficult on he maintenance part. As a chef i keep using different smokers, so this would be my advice.
