Doodle: thank you for the info on blasting off the paint/epoxy!! It is quite thick and I was wondering how to remove it. I have torches and also a propane torch that I use to start fires with, but it seems like that would take a long time. And grinding??? heck no! I will get it blasted. What...
Mine's made out of the same material as yours, pretty much. Before you get too far look into having that epoxy blasted off. It won't burn well, and will take somewhat longer than forever to grind off...it sort of melts and moves around. It's a great size to work with though!
Agree with above...projects get cheaper when you've accumulated tools and excess materials from previous jobs...otherwise it's pretty much never ending and lots of compromises if you're looking for "cheap".

Late to the party, but I'd have to agree that you flow is somewhat compromised if you're getting smoke from your upper FB vent. I can "make" mine do that if I close my cc chimney before opening my warmer (effectively auxiliary) chimney. You must be close though, so Dave's suggestion seems like...
Famous last words indeed! There's a never ending process of tweaks, add ons and adjustments, but it doesn't mean you won't be cooking soon! Looks great!
