I'll check again at Home Depot -- and bring the probe  with me, as I should have done in the first place. Also, how can I get in touch with Todd? Thanks.

    temp probe access

Sadly, we haven't had one of those great old hardware stores around my part of Texas since I was a teenager -- many, many moons ago.

    temp probe access

Thanks. I did that but the inside diameter of the nipple is not large enough to accommodate the probe of the E85, which has a fairly large collar between the base of the probe and the wire.

    temp probe access

I think I remember reading somewhere that one way to create a temp probe access in a wsm is by cutting a slot in the top edge of the mid section. If anyone out there in q-land has done this successfully, I'd appreciate details...even pics if you have them. Thanks.

I'll start looking. Naturally, I bought the hardest gauge design for this modification. Your mod idea is a good one, though, so I'll keep searching til I find a way to make it work for me (or I might just buy a new gauge -- the easiest answer).

let me make sure i get this straight: you add a cup or two of water to the sand, then cover with alum. foil? thanks.

    handle modification

was going to equip my new 22.5 wms with the genie universal garage door handles as recommended in numerous posts. the holes in the handles, however, do not come close to aligning with the grate-holder holes in the wsm -- off by about an inch. bending the handles to straighten them made the holes...

    saucer/temp gauge advice

thanks. am wondering, though, if we will ever get cooler weather in texas. i'll try the sand if such a miracle occurs. question, though: how much sand do you use in the water pan?
