    500 gallon RF Build revised

Love the build. It's pretty much the same as I was planning with the FB doors on the front and vents on the side.    Adam.

I started at 6 and 6 and then adjusted from there. Only took a couple of adjustments to get the right area.

    Temperature variations..

Is this a home built or store bought. Either way, I'd check everything is built to work for a start. There's a nice excel calculator in this post to quickly check. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/246198/rf-calculator

    Heat problems new build.

You need a bigger chimney to draw the heat out. Something that size probably needs a 5" ID pipe at least 36" high with bigger fire box vents. It looks awesome though. Nice work.

    Heat problems new build.

It looks like the fire box is too small and the chimney is a little small. It's a pretty big smoker.     Adam.

Putting fire box doors on the front instead of side question.

I'm making a separate door for the ash tray on the side. The combustion stove I'm using the doors off has a separate door for that. I may have to make a new door if the vents aren't the right size.

I've decided to build the fire box 24" x 22" x 21" to give me a slightly bigger fire box which will allow me to put the double cast iron combustion stove doors I scored on the front and to allow for the 1 inch of insulation so the FB isn't wider than the CC.    I've also done the calculation...

Putting fire box doors on the front instead of side question.

Hi all,    Would it make a difference if I put the fire box door on the front instead of the side because I'm putting a glass door on it so it will make it easier to see what's going on. I still plan on putting the vents on the side to keep the air flowing straight through. Cheers.     Adam.

Thanks for making it super easy. :)

Would putting the fire box door on the front cause any issues. I'm thinking of putting the doors on the front and the vents on the side to keep the airflow clean bu t make it easier to load wood and see the fire through the glass door.    Adam.

I'm going to fold up the straight sides and weld up the curved sides from 3 pieces. It will be a little fiddly but will work well. I'm planning a covered area so I hope this lasts a long time. I'm in the process of finding an old combustion heater that I can cut up so I'm building the CC...

140 gallon reverse flow insulated firebox build.

So do I. :) Thanks for checking the maths.      My next step is to clean up the corrosion, cut off the motor mounts and get a coat of primer on it. I'm going to measure out the door and cut it and the fire box openings out. I'm also going to put a concealed door seal on the CC opening so that's...

Someone was kind enough to convert it to Excel which made it very easy to use.
